21-year-old man taken into custody following vehicle burglary and brief foot chase

West Monroe, LA – OPSO officials said the 21-year-old suspect was arrested and taken into custody on Wednesday.

His name is Quantez Rogers and he is now charged with multiple charges, including: illegal carrying of weapons, simple burglary from a motor vehicle and two counts of resisting an officer.

This incident occurred on North Violet Street.

Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a vehicle burglary in progress.

The responding deputies made contact with the victim, who reportedly told them that a Black male suspect fled the scene.

The responding deputies reportedly saw a male matching the description and attempted to make contact.

The suspect began running, but was arrested following short foot chase.

Deputies said the suspect reportedly dropped a firearm on the ground as he was running from them.

It was later discovered that the firearm belonged to the victim.

This incident remains under investigation.
