Shreveport, LA – According to the statement, his name is Nikolas Brown Jr. and prosecutors say he is accused of the September 7 killing of a 19-year-old bystander.

The 17-year-old boy will be charged as an adult and not as a juvenile after a probable cause hearing held Monday at Caddo Parish Juvenile Court.

Officials say that the defendant was involved in an altercation with another suspect, ending in a shootout that resulted in the death of the 19-year-old bystander.

This incident occurred in the 6700 block of Jefferson-Paige Road.

Prosecutors say that the defendant can be tried as an adult under provisions of Louisiana Children’s Code Article 305.

Ladies and gentlemen, this allows a DA to transfer jurisdiction of certain juvenile offenders age 15 or older to District Court.

This is a developing story and it will be updated as new information become available.
