Louisiana man sentenced to 48 months in prison after he was found to be in illegal possession of a loaded firearm during a 2020 traffic stop

Shreveport, LA – According to the court documents, his name is Johnny Dewayne Young and he was sentenced Tuesday to 4 years in prison and 3 years’ probation after pleading guilty to the charge of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

During the traffic stop, the defendant admitted to Caddo Parish deputies that he did not have a driver’s license or a state identification card.

Prosecutors say he also admitted that a loaded firearm was in the vehicle.

Deputies found and seized the weapon.

He is a convicted felon and is not allowed to have a firearm. 

The ATF, Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office and Shreveport Police Department conducted the investigation.
