40-year-old man jailed after threatening five children on Elk Pointe Drive, police say

Monroe, LA – Monroe Police Department officials said this incident occurred on Saturday.

It happened in the 2900 block of Elk Pointe Drive.

Monroe Police Department officers responded to a disturbance call.

The responding officers made made contact with one of the victim’s parents who told them that their child and four other children were assaulted by a male suspect.

The 40-year-old suspect reportedly reached into his vehicle, pulled out a BB gun and pointed the weapon at the children.

Authorities identified the suspect as 40-year-old Andy Jones. 

When the officers made contact with the suspect, he appeared to be under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance during questioning.

The responding officers searched his vehicle and reportedly found marijuana and methamphetamine.

Jones is now charged with: five counts of aggravated assault with a firearm; five counts of cruelty to juveniles; two counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
