Shreveport, LA – According to the Shreveport Fire Department, this unfortunate incident occurred right before 3 p.m. Friday.
It happened on Plano St.
Shreveport Fire Department crews responded to a report of a residential structure fire.
The responding crews saw heavy flames and smoke coming from the front door.
They were able to extinguish the fire in just 35 minutes.
Unfortunately, 89-year-old man died of his injuries.
He was later identified as Lawson Schuford.
Woman suffered injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment.
Her age or identity have not yet been released.
The home suffered heavy damage and appears to be a total loss, officials said.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
