New Orleans, LA – According to the New Orleans Police Department, both suspects were arrested and taken into custody on Wednesday.
Police officials said that 40-year-old Traves Scott and 30-year-old Charles Penn will be booked accordingly into the Orleans Parish Justice Center.
The fatal shooting occurred right after 3 p.m. on June 8.
It happened in the 8000 block of Trapier Street.
NOPD Seventh District officers responded to a call of an aggravated battery by shooting at the location.
The responding officers located a male gunshot wound victim, later identified the victim as 26-year-old Derrell Brooks.
The victim was transported via EMS to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.
Through investigation, NOPD Homicide Unit detectives developed and positively identified Scott and Penn as perpetrators in this incident.
