CHURCH POINT, La. – The historic Blizzard of 2025 took a toll on one local church in Church Point, as the roof of its Activity Center collapsed under the heavy weight of the snow. The church, which had been a focal point for community events, shared the unfortunate news on its official Facebook page Tuesday.

In a heartfelt message to the community, the church expressed its sadness over the damage, acknowledging that while many were enjoying the beauty of the winter storm, the church’s Activity Center did not survive the impact.

“Our Activity Center, which is home to our Kid’s Church and serves as the venue for various group gatherings, collapsed due to the heavy snow,” the post read. “The center is also where our teens and others from the community come together each week for basketball, volleyball, and other activities.”

Despite the loss, the church remained hopeful for the future, reassuring the community that the setback would not dampen their spirits. “While we are saddened by this, we look toward the future with hope, fully understanding that God always has a plan,” the post continued.

The collapse highlights the dangers posed by extreme weather, particularly in areas unaccustomed to heavy snowfalls. Church leaders and members are now focused on recovery and rebuilding, ensuring that the spirit of community remains strong as they navigate this challenge.
