IBERIA PARISH, LA — The Port of Iberia is poised to see significant economic growth following the announcement that Cajun Industries, LLC has leased a 60-acre assembly yard at the port. The industrial construction giant’s decision to operate locally is expected to enhance Louisiana’s manufacturing capabilities and create hundreds of new jobs in the region.
At a ceremony held Tuesday morning, Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry joined local and state officials in celebrating the partnership between Cajun Industries and the Port of Iberia. The new facility will enable Cajun Industries to build industrial modules on-site, eliminating the need to outsource production to overseas locations.
Governor Landry highlighted the importance of keeping manufacturing jobs within the United States, emphasizing the critical role of domestic production in strengthening both the state and national economies. Reflecting President Donald Trump’s agenda, Landry stressed that keeping manufacturing local is essential for the country’s infrastructure and security.
“These are the kinds of yards that can absolutely deploy the assets so that we’re not building these modules in China and other countries that hate us,” said Landry. “This is exactly what the president said… cause he believes in it like I believe in it.”
The move by Cajun Industries is expected to generate around 600 local jobs, further strengthening the workforce in Iberia Parish. Governor Landry reinforced the impact of such projects on Louisiana’s economy, noting that they contribute not only to local growth but also to national prosperity.
“It is absolutely every one of you — whether you are building a business, working for somebody, or whether you’re a pipefitter or a welder — we want you to know that these are the projects that help build Louisiana and America,” Landry stated during the ceremony.
Cajun Industries, known for its work in industrial construction, will now add the Port of Iberia to its network of operations. The company’s decision to establish a presence at the port further cements the region’s status as a key hub for industrial services and manufacturing.
This development represents a significant boost to the local economy, aligning with the state’s efforts to attract and retain businesses that contribute to long-term growth. As Cajun Industries begins operations, the Port of Iberia is expected to continue its upward trajectory as an economic powerhouse in Louisiana.
