Lafayette, LA – The Lafayette Police Department commended Officer Fultz for his compassion and professionalism during a recent welfare check involving an elderly driver.

According to the department, Officer Fultz responded to a call regarding a vehicle moving slowly near South Beck Lane and Old 231 South. The caller expressed concern that the driver might be experiencing a medical issue. Upon locating the vehicle in a gas station parking lot, Officer Fultz made contact with the woman, who explained that she had difficulty driving at night due to her age and medical conditions.

During their conversation, Officer Fultz learned that the woman had left her home because she was hungry and had no food. He provided a courtesy transport to help her get something to eat and then drove her home safely.

A week later, the woman’s daughter contacted the department to commend Officer Fultz, saying his kindness made a lasting impact on her mother.

The Lafayette Police Department praised Officer Fultz for going above and beyond the call of duty, noting that his actions exemplify the department’s commitment to serving the community with empathy and professionalism.
