Grand Coteau, LA – An arrest warrant has been issued for a second suspect in connection with the 2019 murder of Keaven Breaux, according to Grand Coteau Police Chief Michael Buck. The suspect, identified as Markalin Savoy, also known as “Sonny” and a resident of Sunset, will face multiple charges, including first-degree murder, home invasion, armed robbery, terrorizing, and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
The charges stem from the April 19, 2019, incident in which Breaux was killed during a violent home invasion. Investigators have determined that Savoy, along with Shantianna Pierre and at least one other individual, confronted the victim at his residence. Surveillance footage released by police shows three suspects, one of whom was armed with a handgun, forcing Breaux into his home. During the robbery, Breaux was shot and later died from his injuries at a hospital.
Pierre, who was also implicated in the crime, was arrested about a year after the murder. Police continue to pursue leads in the case, with Chief Buck noting that more arrests are expected.
Savoy, who is currently incarcerated on unrelated charges, remains a key figure in the ongoing investigation. Chief Buck emphasized the importance of bringing all those involved in the crime to justice.
The murder of Keaven Breaux, a tragic and senseless act of violence, has left the Grand Coteau community on edge for nearly six years. As the investigation continues, authorities are committed to ensuring that all suspects are held accountable for their roles in the fatal incident.
Further updates on the case are expected as new developments arise.
