Crowley, LA – A Crowley woman has been arrested on charges of misdemeanor battery after allegedly striking a teacher at Crowley High School.
Latonya Bias, 39, was taken into custody on December 23 following an investigation by the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office. Authorities responded to a complaint at the high school involving a confrontation between Bias, the parent of a student at the school, and a coach over a disciplinary matter.
According to deputies, the situation escalated when Bias became upset with the coach and physically struck the teacher. After gathering evidence, investigators determined that the altercation was physical in nature, leading to the battery charge.
Deputies made contact with Bias, who later turned herself in. She was booked and released a few hours later, as per jail records. The investigation is ongoing, and no further details have been provided regarding the nature of the disciplinary issue that sparked the confrontation.
The Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office has yet to comment on whether additional charges could be forthcoming.
