Lafayette, LA – Louisiana State Police detectives are continuing their investigation into a deputy-involved shooting that occurred on the evening of Sunday, March 23, 2025, in Lake Charles. The incident unfolded on Barn Stable Drive when deputies from the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a domestic disturbance call at a local residence.
According to officials, 40-year-old Matthew Calloway of Sulphur was allegedly involved in the disturbance. During the course of the deputies’ investigation, Calloway reportedly pointed a firearm at law enforcement officers. In response, the deputies discharged their service weapons, striking Calloway.
Calloway was apprehended at the scene and later transported to a nearby hospital. Authorities have confirmed that his injuries were non-life-threatening. No deputies were injured in the incident, and the situation was contained without further escalation.
The Louisiana State Police have taken over the investigation, which remains active and ongoing.
