Drive-By Shooting in Abbeville Leads to Arrest

ABBEVILLE, La. – A drive-by shooting in the 200 block of South John Hardy Drive on Monday, February 10, 2025, has led to the arrest of a suspect from Breaux Bridge. The Abbeville Police Department responded to the scene around 6:45 p.m. after receiving reports of shots fired at a residence.

The complainant reported that the shooter had fired multiple rounds at the house, hitting it five times. The suspect’s vehicle was seen still driving around the area when officers arrived. Investigators found several shell casings in front of the home, which helped confirm the details of the crime.

Following an investigation, the Abbeville Police Department identified the suspect as Shawndell Perron, 25, of Breaux Bridge. A felony warrant was issued for his arrest on charges of assault by drive-by shooting, illegal use of weapons, and aggravated criminal damage to property.

The Breaux Bridge Police Department apprehended Perron the following day, February 11, at around 4 p.m. After his arrest, Perron was transported to the Vermilion Parish Correction Center, where he was booked. His bond has been set at $85,000.
