Eight Injured in Gunfire After Altercation in Wallace

Lafayette, LA — Eight people were injured early Saturday morning, December 28, after a confrontation in Wallace escalated into gunfire, according to the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office.

The incident occurred around 12:05 a.m. outside a business in the 5800 block of Louisiana Highway 18. Authorities said that deputies responded to reports of gunshots in the area and found multiple victims at the scene.

According to the sheriff’s office, three individuals were shot, while four others sustained graze wounds. A seventh person was reported to have a separate injury, though the nature of that injury has not been specified. All victims were transported to local hospitals, where they were described as being in stable condition. The severity of their injuries has not been disclosed.

Deputies arriving at the scene discovered a crime scene marked by several spent shell casings, but no arrests have been made at this time. Authorities have not yet revealed any details about the potential suspects or the cause of the altercation that led to the shooting.
