LAFAYETTE PARISH, LA — Firefighters swiftly responded to a structure fire at the Ile des Cannes Apartment Complex in Scott on Wednesday afternoon, managing to control the blaze before it could spread beyond a single bedroom.

The Scott Fire Department received the call around 4:20 p.m. and dispatched crews to the 100 block of Natchez Street. Upon arrival, firefighters observed smoke emanating from a second-story apartment. Crews entered the unit and located flames within a bedroom on the upper floor.

Thanks to the quick and coordinated response, the fire was extinguished in a timely manner, preventing it from engulfing the entire apartment. The bedroom where the fire originated sustained moderate damage, while the rest of the apartment experienced primarily smoke-related effects.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported, either among civilians or firefighters. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, with authorities working to determine what led to the blaze.

Assisting the Scott Fire Department at the scene were crews from the Judice and Duson Fire Departments, who helped ensure that the fire was fully contained.

Residents in the area are reminded to stay vigilant and immediately report any signs of smoke or fire. Early detection can play a crucial role in preventing further incidents and ensuring safety for all.
