Firefighters Respond to Trash Compactor Fire at Goodwill in Lafayette

LAFAYETTE, LA – Emergency crews from the Lafayette Fire Department responded to a reported fire at the Goodwill store on Kaliste Saloom around 4:24 p.m. on Monday. The call was made in reference to a blaze in the store’s trash compactor, which prompted an immediate response from fire personnel.

Upon arriving at the scene, firefighters detected smoke emanating from the compactor and quickly took action to extinguish the flames. Thankfully, the fire was contained with no injuries reported.

Authorities have not provided further details on the cause of the fire, but the quick response from the fire department helped prevent any potential damage to the store or surrounding areas.

The Lafayette Fire Department urges businesses to regularly inspect equipment to help avoid similar incidents in the future.
