Gwen’s Law Hearing Scheduled for Man Accused of Stabbing Six-Year-Old Boy

OPPELOUSAS, La. — A Gwen’s Law hearing has been scheduled for Thursday for Patrick Seth Greene, 37, who faces allegations in connection with the stabbing of a six-year-old boy. Greene is currently in custody and will remain jailed until the hearing, a judge ruled Tuesday morning at the St. Landry Parish Courthouse.

The judge also issued protective orders for the child’s mother and siblings amid the ongoing investigation. Prosecutors have indicated plans to upgrade the charges against Greene during the upcoming hearing.

The victim, Korbin, a six-year-old boy from Opelousas, remains in critical condition after suffering multiple stab wounds at a residence in Leonville on Sunday night. The St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to the emergency call, where deputies found Korbin with serious injuries to his head, mouth, neck, tongue, left eye, and chest.

Korbin was initially transported to a local hospital before being airlifted to a specialized medical facility in Baton Rouge. He is currently on life support and fighting for his life, according to family members. Korbin is a brain cancer survivor who previously received treatment at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Patrick Seth Greene, identified by the family as Korbin’s stepfather and a former coach at Sulphur High School, was arrested at the scene. He faces multiple charges, including domestic abuse battery with child endangerment, two counts of aggravated assault, and resisting an officer.

Greene is on administrative leave from his position with the Calcasieu Parish School System pending the outcome of the investigation. His attorneys, Jason Robideaux and Donald Cleveland of Lafayette, declined to comment following the hearing.

The St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office is urging anyone with additional information about the incident to come forward. Tips can be submitted anonymously through Crime Stoppers by calling 337-948-TIPS or using the P3 mobile app.

Korbin’s family has called on the community to show their support by wearing blue and gathering outside the courthouse during the upcoming bond hearing scheduled for Tuesday morning.
