ST. MARTINVILLE, La. – Authorities are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred Friday evening in the 2400 block of Catahoula Hwy. in St. Martin Parish. According to Sheriff Becket Breaux, deputies responded to a 911 call shortly before 7 p.m. on January 17, 2025, regarding the shooting.
Upon arrival, deputies found a man dead from a gunshot wound. The victim was later identified as 45-year-old Codie James of St. Martinville.
Sheriff Breaux confirmed that the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the deadly shooting is ongoing. At this time, no arrests have been made, and authorities are asking for the public’s help.
