Kitchen Fire at Scott Mobile Home Quickly Contained by Firefighters

by Lina Tarson

Lafayette Parish, LA —A kitchen fire caused by an unattended pot left on the stove was swiftly brought under control by the Scott Fire Department on Tuesday evening. The fire, which broke out in a mobile home in the Acadian Villa Estates Mobile Home Park, could have resulted in far more significant damage had firefighters not responded as quickly as they did.

At approximately 6:59 p.m., emergency responders were alerted to a reported structure fire at a residence located on the 2900 block of West Willow Street. Upon arriving at the scene, firefighters observed smoke emanating from the mobile home. Entering the structure, they discovered flames in the kitchen area.

Thanks to their prompt and efficient efforts, the fire was contained quickly, preventing it from spreading to other parts of the home. A preliminary investigation revealed that the fire was sparked by a pot left unattended on the stove, which ignited the nearby kitchen area.

The kitchen sustained moderate fire damage, while the remainder of the residence was primarily affected by smoke. Fortunately, no injuries were reported among either the residents or the fire department personnel.

The Scott Fire Department’s swift response highlights the importance of safety measures in the kitchen, particularly the risks associated with leaving cooking appliances unattended. Authorities remind residents to remain vigilant while cooking and to always ensure that stoves and other heat sources are turned off when not in use.
