LAFAYETTE, LA — The streets of downtown Lafayette are buzzing with anticipation as the city prepares for the 39th annual Festival International de Louisiane, one of the most anticipated cultural events of the year. On Thursday morning, officials gathered at City Hall for a flag-raising ceremony that marked the official countdown to the five-day celebration of international music, arts, and culture.

The event, hosted by the Lafayette Consolidated Government in partnership with Festival International, serves as a symbolic start to the festival’s preparations. The free festival, which runs from April 23-27, will bring together performers, artists, and cultural experiences from French-speaking nations around the world.

Scott Feehan, executive director of Festival International de Louisiane, expressed his gratitude for the ongoing support from the city of Lafayette, acknowledging the integral role the community plays in the success of the festival.

“This is our 39th year, and we’re already looking ahead to next year’s milestone 40th anniversary,” Feehan said. “It’s really exciting to see how far we’ve come, and we couldn’t have done it without the support of the city and everyone involved.”

The festival, which has grown into a regional staple since its inception, will feature a diverse lineup of international musicians, artists, and performers, along with a variety of cultural activities. As in years past, attendees will have the opportunity to experience a rich blend
