LAFAYETTE, LA — Residents gathered at Saint Anthony Catholic Church on Monday evening for a town hall meeting hosted by District 1 Lafayette City Councilman Elroy Broussard. The meeting, which began at 6 p.m., provided an opportunity for community members to learn more about the ongoing LUS Bonin Redevelopment and University Avenue Corridor projects.

Councilman Broussard opened the event by emphasizing the importance of public input in shaping the development of these key projects. “This meeting gives residents the chance to have their voices heard on work that directly impacts their community and to get the latest updates on these vital projects,” Broussard said.

Attendees had the opportunity to engage directly with directors and engineers from Lafayette Utilities System (LUS), as well as representatives from the Public Works Department and the Traffic, Roads & Bridges Department. The team provided detailed information about the current status and future plans for both projects, which aim to revitalize critical infrastructure and improve transportation along two significant corridors in the parish.

The LUS Bonin Redevelopment project focuses on enhancing the utility infrastructure, while the University Avenue Corridor project aims to improve traffic flow and roadway conditions. Both projects are expected to bring substantial benefits to the community, with many attendees eager to voice their opinions and ask questions about potential impacts to local residents.

The event provided a platform for residents to share their feedback, ask questions, and gain clarity on the timeline and goals of the ongoing initiatives. Community leaders and city officials assured those in attendance that their concerns and suggestions would be considered as the projects move forward.

As the meeting concluded, attendees left with a better understanding of the developments taking place in their community and an opportunity to stay informed on future updates related to the projects.

For those unable to attend the meeting, Councilman Broussard’s office and the relevant departments are expected to provide follow-up information and updates on the status of both the LUS Bonin Redevelopment and University Avenue Corridor projects.
