LAFAYETTE, La. — The Lafayette Parish School Board’s Facilities and Long-Range Plan Committee is set to meet Monday evening to discuss a series of renovations, additions, and replacements at local schools. The meeting, scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on March 10, will take place at the school board office located at 202 Rue Iberville.
Among the key topics on the agenda are the removal of Southside High School’s Home and Visitor Stadium, which is currently under construction, and the replacement of S.J. Montgomery Elementary School, which was recently closed and relocated as Lafayette Elementary.
Several other school improvements are also slated for discussion. These include the addition of a new library and academic wing at Judice Middle School, a new library at Lafayette Middle School, and the expansion of Acadiana High School’s academic wing. Additionally, major renovations are planned for L.J. Alleman School and David Thibodaux STEM Magnet Academy, which will see the construction of a new gymnasium.
The meeting will also address the development of a new Academy of Information Technology Center at Carencro High School, as well as upgrades at J.W. Faulk Elementary and Northside High School.
