Authorities confirmed that Markeisha Lawrence, of Lafayette, was booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center on charges of second-degree murder and illegal discharge of a weapon. Records show Lawrence is being held without bond as the investigation continues.
The shooting took place in the 200 block of Arthur Street, where 15-year-old Tameron Willis, also of Lafayette, tragically lost his life. According to Willis’ father, Daniel Montgomery, he believes his son may have been caught in the crossfire while walking home. Montgomery expressed his grief, describing his son’s death as a senseless tragedy.
