Lafayette Police Investigate Early Morning Shooting, One Critically Injured

Lafayette, LA – Authorities are investigating a shooting that occurred early Tuesday morning, leaving one person critically injured. The incident took place in the 100 block of NW Evangeline Thruway, prompting a response from Lafayette police officers at approximately 2:42 a.m.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The individual was stabilized at the scene by emergency medical personnel before being transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. At last report, the victim’s condition remains critical as they undergo surgery.

According to witnesses, the shooting stemmed from an altercation between the victim and the suspect. However, the suspect had fled the scene by the time law enforcement arrived. As of now, no arrests have been made, and investigators are continuing to gather information.
