Lafayette Police Investigate Early Morning Shooting; Victim Undergoes Surgery

Lafayette, LA — A shooting that took place early Tuesday morning on the 100 block of the Northwest Evangeline Thruway left one person injured. According to Lafayette Police, the incident occurred around 2:45 a.m. and stemmed from an argument between two individuals. Witnesses at the scene reported that the dispute escalated when one person began firing at the other.

The victim, who sustained multiple gunshot wounds, was immediately transported to a local hospital. Police confirmed that the victim was undergoing surgery at the time of the report, though their condition has not been disclosed.

Senior Corporal Ashley Wood, a spokesperson for the Lafayette Police Department, stated that authorities arrived at the scene to find the suspect had already fled. Detectives are continuing to investigate the shooting and have been interviewing witnesses to gather more information. At this time, the identity of the suspect remains unknown.

The Lafayette Police Department is urging anyone with information about the incident or the whereabouts of the suspect to come forward. Authorities are continuing their efforts to locate the individual responsible for the shooting.
