Louisiana teen arrested after bringing loaded gun to school

Ouachita Parish, LA – According to the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office, his name is Chris Gilbert and he was arrested on Monday. 

Deputies say the 18-year-old was arrested at Richwood High School.

School administrators were conducting a random bookbag search when they came upon Gilbert.

According to the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office, he became agitated when the search of his bag began.

Loaded Smith and Wesson SD40 .40 caliber pistol was found in the bag.

The 18-year-old was arrested and booked on a charge of illegally carrying a firearm on school property.

Authorities say that only authorized personnel are allowed to carry a firearm on school grounds.

This incident remains under investigation.
