ACADIA PARISH, La. — A Rayne man has been arrested in connection with a drive-by shooting that occurred earlier this month, authorities reported.
Kelvin Madison, 37, was arrested on Monday, January 20, and charged with one count of attempted second-degree murder and five counts of assault by drive-by shooting. His bond has been set at $750,000.
The incident took place on January 10, when Madison allegedly fired shots at a residence on Bosco Highway in the northeastern part of the parish. At the time, five people were inside the home, though no injuries were reported.
According to investigators, Madison and the intended victim had been involved in an ongoing dispute prior to the shooting. Deputies with the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office launched an investigation into the matter, which eventually led to Madison’s arrest.
The case remains under investigation, and further details are expected to emerge as authorities continue their work.
Madison is currently being held at the Acadia Parish Jail.
