Rayne , LA – A Rayne man was killed Wednesday evening in a motorcycle crash in Lafayette Parish, authorities said. The incident occurred around 7:30 p.m. at the intersection of W. Branche Street and Fourth Street.
Blake Jordan Hollier, 33, was traveling west on W. Branche Street at a high rate of speed when the crash occurred. According to police, as Hollier approached the intersection of Fourth Street, a car was traveling east on W. Branche and slowed to signal a turn onto Fourth Street. The car then turned directly into the path of the oncoming motorcycle, causing Hollier to crash into the passenger side of the vehicle.
Hollier was pronounced dead at the scene. Neither the driver nor the passengers in the car were injured in the collision. Authorities collected standard toxicology samples from the scene, which will be submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for further analysis.
The crash remains under investigation by local authorities. Police have yet to release further details about the circumstances surrounding the crash.
