EUNICE, La. — A man is recovering in a Lafayette hospital after being shot Tuesday evening, February 4, in Eunice. Authorities responded to reports of a shooting at approximately 7 p.m. on Benoit Street, where they discovered a man who had been shot in the upper arm.
According to Eunice police, the victim had just returned home from running an errand and was getting out of his car when the gunfire erupted. Investigators stated that witnesses saw a vehicle speeding away from the scene following the shots.
Officers at the scene recovered eight .40 caliber shell casings, indicating the type of firearm used in the shooting. The victim was quickly airlifted to a hospital in Lafayette, where his condition is said to be stable, and he is expected to recover from the injury.
