ST. LANDRY PARISH, La. — Authorities in St. Landry Parish are investigating a disturbing case involving the abuse of a juvenile. On January 25, the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office received a report from its Juvenile Division regarding improper behavior with a juvenile under the age of 17. Sheriff Bobby J. Guidroz confirmed that the alleged acts were recorded and shared via FaceTime on a cellular device.
According to the sheriff’s office, the suspects, who are in a relationship, shared the recorded incident with each other and offered the victim money to conceal the acts. The individuals involved in the case have been identified as Dan’Tarrall Jenkins, 17, of Houma, and Terrance Jackson, 18, of Opelousas. Jenkins faces two counts of pornography involving juveniles and two counts of aggravated crimes against nature, while Jackson is charged with pornography involving juveniles and failure to report the commission of certain felonies.
Sheriff Guidroz referred to the case as one of the most troubling issues in society, calling it “one of the greatest scourges” faced by communities. He expressed gratitude for the efforts of the sheriff’s juvenile detectives, whose professional work led to the investigation’s breakthrough. He also highlighted the role of a concerned relative who recognized signs of abuse and reported the incident, which ultimately led to the discovery of the crime.
“This investigation was made possible by a loving, caring relative who recognized something wrong and brought the incident to light,” Sheriff Guidroz stated.
