ST. PARISH, La. — Authorities have arrested 19-year-old Trealand Castille in connection with a deadly shooting at a Mardi Gras concert in Mamou that left two people dead and 11 others injured. Castille was apprehended over the weekend at an apartment complex in South Montgomery County, Texas, where he was reportedly staying with an individual. He is currently being held in the Montgomery County Jail.
Castille faces two counts of first-degree murder and 10 counts of attempted second-degree murder in connection with the deadly incident during the Mardi Gras festivities. In addition to these charges, he is also facing multiple counts related to a separate case. Castille is wanted in St. Martin Parish for five counts of aggravated criminal damage to property and six counts of aggravated assault with a firearm, stemming from an incident that took place on January 7, 2025.
Authorities have not yet provided details regarding the circumstances surrounding the January incident. However, the outstanding warrants suggest Castille’s involvement in a series of violent events that have left local law enforcement authorities with pressing concerns.
As the investigation continues, law enforcement officials are also probing whether Castille has any further involvement in incidents in Breaux Bridge or St. Martinville. The Breaux Bridge and St. Martinville police departments have been contacted to confirm whether there are additional warrants tied to Castille, but as of now, no further information has been provided.
