by Lina Tarson

Rayne, LA – A 17-year-old was arrested early Monday morning after allegedly firing multiple shots into a home in the 200 block of Martin Street. The Rayne Police Department responded to reports of a drive-by shooting just before 2:30 a.m. on December 23, 2024.

Upon arrival, officers discovered several bullet holes in the exterior of a residence. Inside, there were individuals present, including a child who was reportedly sleeping just feet from where one of the bullets had struck. Fortunately, no one inside the home was injured, but the situation raised serious concerns about the safety of the people involved.

According to Rayne Police Chief Carroll Stelly, an investigation quickly determined that the shooting was the result of an ongoing online feud. The suspect, identified as 17-year-old Tayshon Daigle, allegedly fired multiple 9mm rounds into the house, targeting a juvenile with whom he had been in conflict.

Daigle was arrested and charged with Attempted Second-Degree Murder. His bond was set at $150,000. Authorities are continuing their investigation, and additional charges may be forthcoming. The community remains on edge as the police department works to ensure justice is served in this troubling case.
