Lafayette, LA — Three teenagers have been arrested in connection with a vandalism incident that occurred during the Queen City Christmas Parade earlier this month. The suspects, all 14-year-old boys, are facing felony charges of criminal property damage after allegedly defacing four vehicles in the Bouligny Plaza parking lot on December 14.
The vehicles were spray-painted with profanity while the parade was taking place nearby. Initially, the New Iberia Police Department struggled to identify the individuals responsible for the damage. However, after reviewing surveillance footage from the area, investigators were able to make the connection and identify the suspects.
The three boys were taken into custody last Friday and later released to their parents pending further legal action. Authorities have not disclosed the exact details of the damage or the full extent of the charges.
One of the victims, Sheena Mayes, whose car was among those vandalized, declined to comment when reached for a statement.
The investigation remains ongoing, with police continuing to gather information and proceed with the case.
