DUSON, La. — Two individuals have been arrested following a shooting that took place early Saturday morning in Duson, Louisiana, leaving two people injured.
At approximately 3 a.m. on March 15, Duson Police responded to reports of a shooting in progress at a residence on the 800 block of First Street. Upon arriving at the scene, officers found one person with shrapnel injuries and learned that another individual had been transported to a local hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the leg.
Through their investigation, Duson Police determined that over a dozen gunshots had been fired by a group of individuals who had traveled to the home with the intention of engaging in a confrontation with the residents. The violence resulted in injuries to two people, though neither is believed to have sustained life-threatening harm.
Following the investigation, arrest warrants were issued for two suspects: 18-year-old Marcelle Boutin, who faces charges of principal to attempted second-degree murder, and 20-year-old Preston Nation, who is charged with attempted second-degree murder.
In collaboration with the Lafayette Police Department and Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s deputies, Duson Police successfully located and apprehended both suspects in Lafayette. They are currently being held at the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center, where they are facing charges in connection to the shooting.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident, and additional information may be released as the case progresses.
