Vehicle Fire on I-10 Westbound in Lafayette Parish Causes Traffic Delays

by Lina Tarson

LAFAYETTE PARISH, LA — A vehicle fire involving a disabled 18-wheeler has caused significant traffic delays on Interstate 10 westbound. The incident, which occurred near Louisiana Avenue, has led to the closure of two right lanes as emergency crews continue their efforts to clear the scene.

As of now, one lane has been reopened to allow traffic to flow, but congestion is building, with delays extending back toward LA 328 (Rees Street). The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) has warned motorists to expect continued delays until the situation is fully resolved.

No injuries have been reported in connection with the fire. However, authorities are urging drivers to stay alert and consider using alternate routes to avoid further disruption. While emergency crews work to clear the wreckage and ensure the safety of all involved, motorists are advised to remain patient and cautious.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but officials are hopeful that the remaining lanes will reopen as soon as possible, allowing traffic to return to normal.
