Lafayette, LA – This weekend, Veterans Point Louisiana will host its inaugural furniture drive, a milestone event that holds deep personal meaning for the organization’s founder, Veronica Mallet. The event, which is dedicated to providing essential items for veterans, underscores the organization’s commitment to giving back to those who have served in the military.
Veronica Mallet, whose son is a veteran, shared that her family’s military background plays a key role in driving the mission of the organization. “Our son is a veteran,” she said. “We have other family members who are veterans, which plays a part in helping us to give back.”
Although this marks the first official giveaway specifically for veterans, Veterans Point Louisiana has been serving communities across the state for years. Based in St. Landry Parish, the organization’s reach extends from Alexandria to New Orleans, addressing the widespread need for assistance in various communities.
“There is a great need, and we don’t only service St. Landry Parish,” Mallet explained. “We service as much in Louisiana as we can.”
For this furniture drive, the team has already gathered a variety of items, including bedding, comforters, and other essential furniture pieces. Mallet expressed hope that additional donations will come in on Saturday to further support their efforts. “We have bedding and comforters. We have anything you can think of for them,” she said.
The event will take place on Saturday, with donations being accepted between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. at 308 West Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive in Opelousas. The organization encourages community members to contribute any items they can to help veterans in need.
Veterans Point Louisiana continues to expand its efforts to support veterans and their families across the state, and this inaugural furniture drive is a step forward in the organization’s ongoing mission to give back to those who have served.
