by Lina Tarson

St. Martin Parish, LA – A 19-year-old Washington man has been arrested in connection with a shooting that left one dead and two others injured in Cade. Michael Jordan Zachary Jr. was booked with second-degree murder following a March 22 shooting that claimed the life of 20-year-old Javeuin Williams of Breaux Bridge.

According to the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred around 10:20 p.m. on Smede Highway. Deputies arrived at the scene to find that an argument between several individuals had escalated into gunfire. Authorities say Zachary fired into a crowd of people before fleeing the scene. Three victims were taken to nearby hospitals with injuries, and Williams later succumbed to his wounds.

In the hours following the shooting, Zachary was involved in a car crash. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment but was released the following day. While recovering, he was booked on charges of possession of an illegally transferred weapon.

Sheriff’s deputies continued their investigation and, on Thursday, charged Zachary with second-degree murder in connection with the death of Williams. Authorities confirmed that the investigation remains ongoing as they work to gather further information about the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

The St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office is urging anyone with information related to the case to contact them directly. Tips can also be reported anonymously through St. Martin Crime Stoppers by calling 337-441-3030 or using the P3 Tips App. Tipsters whose information leads to an arrest may be eligible for a cash reward.
