Firefighters Respond to Home Blaze in Scott; Investigators Look Into Cause

Lafayette,  LA – The Scott Fire Department (SFD) responded to a home fire on the 100 block of Des Jacques Road just after 1 p.m. on Monday. Firefighters arrived at the scene to find heavy smoke billowing from the residence.

Upon entering the home, crews discovered a moderate fire in one of the bedrooms. They were able to quickly bring the blaze under control, preventing it from spreading to other parts of the house.

No one was found inside the home at the time of the fire, and fortunately, no injuries were reported. Authorities have not disclosed the names of the property owners.

Investigators with the Lafayette Fire Department are currently working to determine the cause of the fire. While the cause remains under investigation, the possibility of the fire being intentionally set has not been ruled out.

Authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident to contact the tip line at 232-TIPS. The investigation is ongoing, and more details will be released as they become available.
