LAFAYETTE PARISH, La. — Authorities are investigating after a body was discovered in a waterway in Lafayette Parish on Saturday, January 18. The Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a call at approximately 4 p.m. regarding the discovery of the body in the Vermilion River near the 400 block of West Milton Avenue.
Deputies arrived at the scene and initiated an investigation. The coroner’s office has been called in to help identify the victim and determine the cause and manner of death. At this time, the identity of the deceased remains unknown.
