Crash on US 190 and La. 743 Leaves Pregnant Driver Critically Injured and Loses Baby

ST. LANDRY PARISH, LA – A crash on Tuesday morning at the intersection of US 190 and La. 743 has left a pregnant driver critically injured and resulted in the loss of her baby. According to the Louisiana State Police, the accident occurred when an 18-wheeler, driven by a man from Lafayette, failed to stop at a stop sign while turning left onto US 190.

The truck, which was traveling south on La. 743, turned directly into the path of an SUV traveling west on US 190. The SUV collided with the Freightliner, and the impact left the driver of the SUV in critical condition. Authorities say that the pregnant driver suffered severe injuries in the crash and ultimately lost her baby.

The driver of the 18-wheeler was unharmed in the collision, and State Police have indicated that a toxicology sample was collected from the driver of the Freightliner as part of the ongoing investigation. The sample has been submitted for analysis to determine if any substances contributed to the crash.

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are working to determine the exact cause of the accident. State Police have urged anyone with information to come forward as they continue to look into the incident.
