LAFAYETTE PARISH, La. — Traffic on Interstate 10 West came to a near standstill Monday as an accident just past LA 182 (North University Avenue) blocked the left lane, causing severe congestion that stretched approximately five miles.
The incident, which occurred earlier in the day, has significantly disrupted westbound traffic flow. As of this report, the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) has not released an estimated time for when the roadway will be cleared.
Motorists are being urged to avoid the area if possible. Authorities recommend seeking alternate routes and planning for substantial delays. The cause of the accident and whether there were any injuries remain unclear at this time.
