Carencro, LA — Two separate house fires broke out Friday night in Carencro, leaving several firefighters injured but causing no injuries to residents.

The first fire occurred just before 9 p.m. on Hidden Oaks Drive. According to officials, a vehicle fire under the carport quickly spread to the attic of the home. Firefighters arrived to find flames penetrating through the roof. Despite heavy fire damage to the residence, all occupants were able to escape safely. Two Carencro firefighters suffered minor burns and received treatment at the scene.

Just after midnight, emergency crews responded to a second fire on the 2700 block of Gendarme. Fire was visible through the roof of a double-wide mobile home upon arrival. Firefighters managed to get the blaze under control swiftly, but approximately 50 percent of the home was severely damaged. All occupants escaped without injury; however, one Lafayette firefighter was injured when part of the ceiling collapsed. The firefighter was transported to a local hospital, treated, and released.

Authorities confirmed that both fires are under active investigation. No further details have been released at this time.
